My brother Dennis, his wife Kieran and my neice Alyssa (that’s them in the upper left of this montage) have been working with this organization “Healing the Children” for many years. They’ve opened their lives to many children with severe medical needs. The children become part of their family, and part of mine.

My fellow blogger, bon-vivant and connoisseur of all that is interesting Shawn Zehnder Lea , has put up a website where artists from the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina can show their work and hook up with folk like you and me.

Why?

Because these folks cannot wait until their home towns and venues are rebuilt. They need to connect with their audience and continue supporting their lives with sales of their art.

Shawn stepped up and created the marketplace for artists to present their work.

I was like a kid at Christmas.

There it was.

My Gary Fong, Light Sphere Photo Journalist II Dome.

I’d jumped at ordering it, the moment it was released.

Looking for things to take pictures of, I saw this antique mirror, and viola!

Audubon Newhall Trail - 12

Funny how a picture tells a story.

When I captured this photo, I was exploring the Audubon Newhall Trail in warm Hilton Head Island, SC.

All by myself.

And various flora and fauna.

I had the whole place to myself.

No interpreter, no guide, no fellow trail hikers.

I loved it.

It reminded me of my time growing up on 13 acres of land with a pond, a bit bigger than this one.

I loved to explore that land.

I enjoyed being with Nature.

Here, I was able to do the same from my present age.

I was floored by the beauty, and the care with which the trail is kept alive.

This is just one of many photos I took on that afternoon.
